Reconsider Your Age for Governorship: Wike To Dumo
Former governor of Rivers State and national leader of the Rainbow Coalition in Nigeria, Chief Nyesom Wike, has publicly advised the 2027 governorship candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress in Rivers State, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, to reconsider his gubernatorial ambition and step aside for young and promising Rivers youth to contest.
The NDC political party candidate, whom Wike described as his long-time friend, has been trying for years to secure the governor’s seat without success.
According to the two-term governor, Dumo is the only recognised opposition he knows, while others are unknown in the State. His advice to the governorship hopeful in the oil-rich state was particularly about his advanced age and strength.

“I don’t know the other people contesting in Rivers State, but Dumo has been my friend. I have told him several times, ‘Dumo, how many times will you contest? You are approaching 70 years old, and you have contested for governor of Rivers State more than eight times. Take your money and sponsor someone else,’” Wike stated.

Leaders, stakeholders and supporters of the Rainbow Coalition noted with absolute confidence that the advice from the coalition national leader was authentic and necessary for the growth of the state and projection of young Nigerians amid growing political activities
