64th Anniversary: IBEDC pledges national development

The leadership of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company has emphasized its dedication to ensuring a consistent power supply across the country. The company expressed that this initiative would enhance the nation’s economic growth in honor of Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary.

In a statement released on Monday, the acting Managing Director of IBEDC, Francis Agoha, expressed, “As we celebrate Nigeria’s independence, it is essential to embrace the values of integrity, hard work, and patriotism.” Electricity is essential for a nation’s economy, and IBEDC is dedicated to driving Nigeria’s advancement by providing services that improve lives and foster economic development.

Agoha cautioned that stealing energy is a serious crime according to the law and may result in a three-year prison sentence. “Stealing energy is a serious offense that can lead to legal consequences, including a possible prison sentence of up to three years. Additionally, it harms the overall service experience for everyone.” “It harms the country,” he stated.

The MD cautioned that interfering with electrical installations can lead to serious safety hazards, potentially resulting in severe injuries or even death. He encouraged customers to notify IBEDC about any instances of energy theft or unusual activities to help maintain the safety and reliability of electricity distribution in their neighborhoods.

The statement continued, “While the nation celebrates, IBEDC assures customers that our technical teams are ready to address any faults or issues that may arise during the holiday. We encourage customers to utilise our convenient payment channels to ensure uninterrupted service.

“These include the IBEDCPAY app (available on Android and iOS), as well as IRecharge, Quickteller, Payarena, Jumia, Watu, Buypower, and ATMs. IBEDC offices will be open during the public holiday from 9am to 3pm for payment and vending services.”
