Wike Meets Fubara To Discuss Strategies For 2027 Election
The factional national leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, met Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara at the governor’s private residence in Port Harcourt on Tuesday. Members and a cross-section of leaders of the Rainbow Coalition were present.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 governorship candidate, Rt Hon. Kingsley Chinda, also attended.

First Meeting Since the Political Tension Ended
It is understood that the meeting was the first time Wike met Fubara, his political protégé, since the political tension in Rivers State was resolved.
Reports also indicate that the high-level meeting brought together core political players and Fubara supporters. They are said to have agreed to work together and mobilise support for the upcoming general elections in the state.
Fubara Says He Has Returned to His Political Family
At a recent public function in the oil-rich state, Governor Fubara said with confidence that he had returned to the political family that made him who he is.
A source confirmed that Wike intended to finalise the ongoing peace process and strategic coalition as the 2027 campaign approached.
Reconciliation Committee Paved the Way
After peace returned to Rivers State, a reconciliation committee led by former Senator Magnus Abe met Fubara twice at Government House. The committee discussed how to accommodate the governor’s supporters in the new political arrangement.
A source, who requested anonymity, stated that the visit aims to solidify that peace. “You know the Senator Magnus Abe-led reconciliation committee has met with the governor twice,” the source said. “Now, maybe it’s time for the FCT minister to visit the governor to show that peace has truly returned.”
