Wike: I Have No Connection with the Imo Court Judgement
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has denied any link to the Federal High Court judgement that went against Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma in the forthcoming Imo West Senatorial election. The same judgement recognised former governor Rochas Okorocha as the authentic senatorial candidate.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Wike called the allegation mischievous and said he played no part in the case.

“First of all, anybody calling my name is being mischievous. I didn’t go to court. I’m not in APC. I don’t know what the issue is,” he said.
Wike also said Uzodimma had threatened supporters of the Rainbow Coalition, a platform meant to bring politicians from different parties together, and had vowed to seize vehicles donated to them. He added that the Coalition does not exist in Imo State.
He also addressed an old video circulating on social media. It shows him dancing with Okorocha at an event when Wike was governor of Rivers State and Okorocha was governor of Imo State.

“Now they showed the video where Rochas and I danced when I hosted him when he was governor,” Wike said.
Uzodimma has since appealed the Federal High Court’s judgement. Meanwhile, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has rejected Okorocha’s candidacy as its flag-bearer for the 2027 election.

Wike affirmed the Rainbow Coalition’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election and mobilisation on his behalf. He noted that this support does not stop opposition parties from fielding their own candidates, especially within the Coalition.

The Coalition is designed to rally politicians from different parties behind Tinubu’s 2027 campaign. Members need not leave their parties or back APC candidates in other elections.
On the October 29, 2026, edition of “Politics Today” on Channels Television, the embattled Okorocha praised Wike’s Rainbow Coalition idea. He announced plans to set up a similar alliance in Imo State.
