Tinubu: CCECC to Reconstruct East-West Road in Niger Delta
President Bola Tinubu gave China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) the contract to rebuild East-West Road in the Niger Delta during his visit to Beijing.
On Monday, Tinubu said that the Chinese construction company will rebuild the failing East-West Expressway, which spans multiple states in the Niger Delta region. S
His speech at Beijing’s corporate headquarters of CCECC, the President mentioned the company’s stellar reputation for excellent work in Nigeria as the basis for selecting them to do the whole highway makeover.
According to him: “We have seen the excellent work carried out but your company in Nigeria and I want to assure you here that I will sign the contract for the East West road for you to reconstruct before l leave here”.
President Tinubu also expressed his government’s commitment to work with the CCECC especially in the laying of new tracks along Lagos-Abuja-Kano rail line, among others.
He assured the international construction firm that Nigeria has overcome the issue of unavailability of funds saying “we have gone beyond the issue of funding and now very ready for business”.
