ARE THINGS STILL FALLING APART?

June 17th 2024, marked the 66th publication and anniversary of Things fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. It is believed that his book never goes outdated as it still addresses the situations of the country.

To observe this event, the management and staff of kids n us school, staged a movie night performance.

This reenactment was done by primary school pupils who have been learning the act of creative writing, play scripting and drama.

The movie director, Mr. Ita Bassey was happy at the outcome of the event. Contextually,he reminded parents that, “Things may keep falling apart when they fail to be responsible”.

Also,in an interview with the Director of studies- Mrs Mary Ibia, she identified “parenting” as a motif running through the story. In her words, “Parents are the ultimate role models for their children. They should create a better world for their children to emulate. This is seen in the character -Okonkwo who never wanted to be like his father. His strive for masculinity forms the background of this display”

The head of school-Mrs Nkechi Emil Inyang expressed her satisfaction and thanked everyone who made the event a reality.
