Peter Obi, Others attend Ifeanyi Ubah’s funeral

The late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who represented Anambra South Senatorial District, was laid to rest on Friday, 22nd November 2024, in his hometown, Otolo Nnewi, Anambra State.

Senator Ubah, who was re-elected to the 10th Senate under the platform of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), passed away in London on July 27.

Sharing photos from the solemn event, Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo paid a heartfelt tribute. He stated that, “Today, I was in Nnewi to pay my last respect to the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. He was more than a senator. He was a younger brother and a friend, always brimming with life and enthusiasm. His untimely departure serves as a powerful reminder of life’s fleeting nature. May his gentle soul Rest In Peace.”

Also in attendance were other dignitaries including Labour Party’s presidential candidate Peter Obi, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia North, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and Senator Victor Umeh of Anambra Central, among others.
Speaking on the event, Peter Obi expressed his displeasure and shock at the death of the Senator calling it a “rude shock” to him and to all who’s live he touched positively. He noted that, beyond Senator Ubah’s political service to the people, he contributed to a better society through his not-for-profit organization, which cared for the less privileged by investing in their education, health, and poverty alleviation. He added that Sen. Ubah’s stood as a reminder of our limited time here on earth. “His death should remind us, first as humans, more importantly as political leaders, that we only have a limited time here on earth to serve the people under our care and leave lasting legacies for generations to come.”
