We envision a Nigeria where electricity is not just a luxury but a fundamental right, says Minister of Power

In a press release, signed by   Dibiaezue-Eke, Florence,the
Director of Information and Public Relations, the power minister -Chief Adebayo Adelabu mentioned that “making supply of electricity a fundamental human right of Nigerians is the vision of the ministry and  a part of the policy thrusts of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

Dibiaezue-Eke Florence, in her opening remarks noted that the rejuvenation of the team would assist the ministry and its agencies in reaching out to the public effectively to explain their programmes and policies.

The Hon Minister of Power- Chief Adebayo Adelabu stated this  on Wednesday, 21st August 2024, at the inauguration of the Power Sector Communications Team (PSCT). The PSCT is made up of Communication managers in the Ministry of Power and all its agencies.

For the  Minister of Power, the provision of electricity is considered a fundamental human right to all Nigerians, and efforts will be intensified to achieve this.

During the inauguration  of the team, the minister for power described the process  as a significant milestone in the sector’s effort to inform the public about the policies and programmes of the Ministry and its agencies.

Also, the  Minister affirmed  that the Power sector communication team  is a platform for clear, consistent, and transparent communication, aimed at building trust and confidence in communication.

In his words,
“Today marks a significant milestone in our collective efforts to illuminate Nigeria.

“We gather here to inaugurate the Power Sector Communications Team (PSCT), a strategic initiative designed to bridge the gap between the power sector and the public.

“Effective communication is the bedrock of any successful enterprise, and the power sector is no exception. It is a complex sector, often misunderstood and fraught with challenges. The PSCT is our response to this”, the minister said.

“It is a platform for clear, consistent, and transparent communication, aimed at building trust and confidence in the sector.

“The PSCT is more than just a team; it is a commitment to excellence in communication. Its members, drawn from the heart of the power sector, are dedicated to translating complex technical issues into plain language, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and creating a positive narrative around the sector.

“We envision a Nigeria where electricity is not just a luxury but a fundamental right. To achieve this, we must work together, and effective communication is key. The PSCT is a vital tool in this endeavour.

“I formally inaugurate the Power Sector Communications Team (PSCT) today. I am confident that under the leadership of its dedicated members, the PSCT will excel. Together, we will transform the power sector from a source of frustration to a catalyst for national growth, he said as he called on all stakeholders, including the media, to support the PSCT in its efforts.

“By working together, we can create a brighter, more electrified future for Nigeria”.

In attendance was the Director-General of National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NPTIN), Ahmed Bolaji Nagode who spoke on behalf of the Chief Executives of the Agencies while commending the Hon Minister for this giant stride and  assured the Minister of the cooperation of the Agencies in ensuring that the objectives of this team work are successful executed and impacted to all stakeholders and the the general public.

The director general also added  that this collaboration could not have come at a better time than now as Nigerians are beginning  to see that provision of affordable and adequate electricity in Nigeria is workable as being demonstrated with the present Administration.
