FLOOD DISASTER IN TARABA, NEMA CONDUCTS ON THE SPOT CHECK

The complain about flooding has been a major concern, specifically as it affects some wards in the LAU local government area,(LAU A and LAUB),Donadda and Kunini of Taraba state.

The National Emergency Management Agency(NEMA) upon receiving this complain from the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA)launched into action to ascertain the height of damage, effects,possible solutions and support.

Nema collaborated with the Red Cross Unit, the Local Emergency Management Commitee (LEMA) and TSEMA.

The team investigated this disaster and discovered that approximately 7,645 people (1,274 households) were affected,
135 buildings were destroyed and 18,543 hectares of farmland were flooded amongst other damages.

The team paid a visit to the District Head of Mayo-Renuwo- Alhaji Yusuf Kawu to express their sympathy on behalf of the Director General of Nema.

A suggestion was given by the team. They advised the relocation of community members to a higher ground for safety.

Waziri Nuhu Baba Kano,representing the district head, appreciated NEMA and the Taraba state Government for their prompt actions and requested more support from the Federal Government.
