APC Records Massive Defection In Adamawa
As preparations for Nigeria’s general election gather weight across the nation, council chairmen and councillors in the 21 local government areas of Adamawa State have officially joined the All Progressive Congress (APC) after tendering their resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at their various wards.

The Publicity Secretary of the APC in Adamawa State, Mr Victor Dogo, announced the mass defection while addressing pressmen on the preparations of the state party in Yola and the entire state.

Dogo described the movement as a symbol of unity and a way forward for the state, in alignment with the state governor’s mantra and vision.
He stated that the chairmen and councillors were motivated by their conviction and a desire for a better and renewed Adamawa that would benefit its citizens.
Defectors cited personal reasons after full consultations with family members and political associates.
In his resignation letter, the council chairman of the Demsa Area, Akham Jalo,

explained that his decision followed critical consultations with his family, friends and political stakeholders.
”My membership in the APC will enable me to align with Governor Fintiri’s progressive vision and democratic dividends.”

The political players have expressed appreciation to the PDP for the opportunity to serve. They also urged their supporters to unite, emphasising that the APC is a party for all.
Meanwhile, the 2027 presidential candidate of the Action Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar, hails from Adamawa State. Many have described the defection as a planned move to distort the ADC’s victory in that state.
