NIN (NIMC) Enhances Enrollment Integrity: Nigerians Urged to Visit Official Page to Prevent Information Alteration

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced that it will cease all data modification activities at its National Identification Number (NIN) enrollment centres nationwide.

The Commission issued a notice on Wednesday, stating that all NIN holders wishing to modify their data should utilize the NIMC self-service modification portal.

Although the self-service portal was launched some time ago, individuals continued to visit enrollment centers to update their information, enduring lengthy queues and extended waiting periods to accomplish this task.

The statements made by NIMC The Commission has announced the new policy through a post on its X handle, stating that this initiative is part of its efforts to enhance the National Identity Management System.

“Modification activities will no longer be conducted in our enrollment centers. Instead, we have launched a convenient self-service modification portal, empowering you to update your information securely and efficiently online,” it said.

NIMC emphasized the advantages of the Self-service modification, which include convenience and the capability to update information at any location and at any time.

“Eliminate lengthy queues and waiting times.” The platform significantly improves data security due to its robust online framework. The Commission stated, “This results in decreased efficiency, increased speed, and enhanced approval.”

Nonetheless, certain users have encountered challenges while using the NIMC self-service portal.

They have identified a significant issue with the app related to receiving the OTP necessary for progression.

Several individuals expressed dissatisfaction after making a payment on the platform for modifications, as they received notifications indicating that their applications had been ‘rejected’ with no alternative options available for progression.

The fee for updating a date of birth on the platform is N16,340, whereas the cost for changing a phone number or name is approximately N1,522 each. The same fee is applicable for address changes.
