Despite his frail limbs, 91-year-old Bishop Matthew Youngosi became emotional, sang spiritual tunes, and danced dexterously when officials of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star College of Bishops paid him a welfare visit on the directive of His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu.
The 2024 Solemn Conference and Dean’s Working Visit to Bayelsa State, which took place from July 11th to July 13th, 2024, included the visit as one of its highlights.
Bishop Youngosi is said to be the oldest living member of BCS, having been baptised into the fold around 1970 and holding on to his faith in the fold steadfastly despite many trials.
He has held numerous positions in BCS Bayelsa State and is considered one of the living archives of the spiritual organization’s history in that state.
The Lord Bishop expressed his immense joy that His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, remembered me so much that he sent a special delegation from the World Headquarters at 34 Ambo Street, Calabar, to visit my humble home. I am overjoyed.
“I cannot thank Him enough. My soul is satisfied. I am very elated. Glory be to the Almighty Father.”
In his testimony, Archbishop Natus Zebakame, the immediate past administrator of BCS in Bayelsa State, stated that he was the one who sewed his first pair of white knickers in 1974, following his baptism.
“He was the choirmaster general of his zone many years ago.” He has been very faithful, committed, and steadfast in BCS Bayelsa State. Amongst his contemporaries, he is the only one alive today.”
The Dean of the BCS College of Bishops, the Patriarch, Christ Shepherd Bassey Imowo, was accompanied by some of his officials, as well as members of the Bayelsa State Bishops Forum led by His Grace Zifaye Votuwei.
The Father in the Dean invoked divine blessings, assuring him and his family of protection and great rewards for his unrelenting services to God.
Paying welfare visits to very elderly brethren of BCS, who were once very active and faithful but are now weak as a result of age, is usually part of activities during the Dean’s working visit to any state or country.
Bishop Paul Hamilton, 96, received a similar visit in Kasoa town, Ghana, last July.
Traditional Ruler
The college members also called at the palace of the traditional ruler of Ebene-Otubo Atissa Kingdom, HRH Anderson Jerome Olomu, to deliver a special message from His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu on the need for love for one another, honesty, humility, and forgiveness.
The Dean of the College presented a copy of the Everlasting Gospel volume 1 alongside copies of the New Kingdom Trumpet to the traditional ruler, who received the delegation alongside his first son.
The Dean informed him that the King of Kings and Lord of Lords had approved the visit, highlighting its profound spiritual significance.
He assured him that since he overcame his initial hesitation to receive God’s children on his homestead, the Father has made everything well with him and his domain.
HRH Olomu said that after overcoming the fears and fright of hosting the delegation, he was feeling so free, joyful, relaxed, and at home.
“I was initially sceptical about accepting the team, but something told me to allow the visit. I am not completely a stranger to the fold. Some of your brethren are close to me in the traditional council. They encouraged me to meet you. Now I have seen that the wrong perceptions I had were deceptive. I am very happy, free, and elated at your arrival.
“I want you to pray for Nigeria. This country needs prayers. Only prayers will turn things around.
God’s direction is evident in your arrival. Pray for us. God will help you just as He has helped us.”
HRM Archbishop Evans Nwansi and Archbishop Zabekame who is Secretary of the Atissa Kingdom and is a traditional chief himself, also spoke, revealing the divine Deity of His Holiness Olumba Olumba.
