First Lady expresses condolences to Army Chief’s family

Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of Nigeria’s President, has conveyed her profound condolences to the family and friends of Leiutenant Taoreed Lagbaja, the former Chief of Army Staff, who passed away on Tuesday night in Lagos.

In a message that she sent out on Wednesday, the First Lady lauded the exemplary traits that the late Chief of Army Staff possessed.

She said:, “I received the sad news of the passing of Chief of Army Staff Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja with a heavy heart.”

“Throughout his career, the late Chief of Army Staff demonstrated courage, love for the nation, and steadfast commitment to serving our beloved country.

I offer my heartfelt sympathies to his wife, Mrs. Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja, as well as to his children, family, friends, colleagues, and associates.

“May God provide them with comfort and strength to endure this profound loss.”

May his kind spirit find eternal tranquility.

Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady, also visited the family of the Late Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja, to offer her condolences.

The First Lady, along with the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, and the wife of the National Security Adviser, Hajia Zara Ribadu, was welcomed by the wife of the Chief of Defence Staff, Mrs. Oghogho Musa.

While offering solace to the grieving Mrs. Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja’s family, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu remarked that “only the Lord can determine when a man dies.”

She encouraged them to find solace in the wonderful life and the lasting memories he created.

The First Lady encouraged the children to stay dedicated and chase the values their father stood for.

Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Late Chief of Army Staff, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, at the age of 56, following a period of illness.

The late General Lagbaja held the position of Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff from June 2023 until November 5, 2024.
