The aftermath of the election in Rivers State has been challenging. The shootings and burning down of structures, reports of arson and explosions in the state have become major concerns.
These challenges were peddled after the local government elections on Saturday. Mr president- His excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu expresses deep concerns.
It is on this note that Mr. President has informed the Governor of Rivers state- Governor Siminalayi Fubara , political leaders and their supporters in Rivers State to uphold the rule of law and manage the conflicts.
His excellency- Bola Ahmed Tinubu mandated that political actors and their supporters refrain from the actions of violence and disturbing acts.
His excellency, further directed the police to help in the enforcement of law and order as this will bring the situation under control. He also emphasized that public institutions be secured too and government facilities built with public funds be protected against vandalism.
He maintained that self- help does not fit in a democratic system that have worked for over 25 years, consistently.
Mr President observed that the judiciary can solve politically related matters including the outcome of the elections held on Saturday, the 5th of October.
