NUT is upset that there aren’t enough teachers in schools

Primary schools in Nigeria are facing a serious shortage of teachers, according to the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT). Some institutions are down to just one or two instructors.

The terrible condition of junior and senior secondary schools, especially in rural regions, was highlighted by Audu Amba, the National President of NUT.

He urged the federal and state governments to guarantee the full implementation of approved incentives to raise the morale of teachers. Dr. Yusuf Sununu, the Minister of State for Education, pledged the government’s assistance in the empowerment of instructors and the development of technological skills.

Audrey Azoulay, the Director-General of UNESCO, urged education stakeholders to recognize the importance of enabling teachers to play a role as national and community leaders.

During the 2024 World Teachers’ Day Celebration in Abuja, the President’s Teachers and School Excellence Award was presented to the six governors, and cultural presentations were also held. Today’s topic is “Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education.”
