Nigeria at 64: Tinubu Unveils Plan for 2.5 Million Jobs

Aimed at creating 2.5 million jobs yearly for Nigerians, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has presented a new employment initiative, the Renewed Hope Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP).

Making this declaration during his 64th Independence Day speech, Tinubu underlined the government’s will to address unemployment and raise worker welfare all around.

Under the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, LEEP is intended to be a complete strategy set to be introduced in November 2024. It guarantees the safety and well-being of the workforce and aims to generate both directly and indirectly jobs.

His speech, “In addition, later this month, we shall launch The Renewed Hope Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP).

“It is conceived as a comprehensive suite of interventions at job creation by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment that is aimed at facilitating the creation of 2.5 million jobs, directly and indirectly, on an annual incremental basis whilst simultaneously ensuring the welfare and safety of workers across the country”, he said.

Apart from LEEP, Tinubu launched a national 30-day Youth Conference meant to solve young people’s financial difficulties. He underlined that the occasion will give young voices a forum and enable his government to carry out important proposals.

By means of these programs, the president gave his people hope for the future since he told them that better times lay ahead for Nigeria.
