On Tuesday, Gov. Zulum visited the residents of Maiduguri who were affected by the flood

Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Zulum, said that the flood in Maiduguri was caused by this year’s heavy rain.

When the governor went to see the Bakassi IDP camp on Tuesday, which is located along the Biu-Damboa road in Maiduguri, he told the people there that more than a million people have been forced to leave their homes.

Zulum said that the flood was caused by more than just heavy rain.

He said that the overflow of Alau Dam was caused by water being let out of other in Cameroon.

The governor of Borno said that the Alau Dam would be rebuilt to hold more water.

He also said that buildings that were built near rivers or other places that are likely to flood would be taken down to make sure that this doesn’t happen again.

He said that the federal government had given N3 billion to help with the problems caused by the flood.

The flood that started over the weekend got worse over the next few days, flooding homes and farms and making it hard for people to make a living.

The house of the Shehu of Borno and the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital are among the areas of Maiduguri that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says are under water because of the floods.

NEMA said that the state government is still working to find new homes for people who had to leave their homes because of the flooding.

Reports say that about three camps for internally displaced people, including the Bakasi camp, have been opened to help those who need to stay.

President Bola Tinubu told the National Emergency Management Agency to help the people who were hurt by the floods.

In a statement, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said that the flood was the “worst” in the last 30 years.

He also sent his deepest condolences to the government and people of the State, especially to the families who lost their jobs because of the disaster caused by the overflow of the Alau Dam.

Shettima says that climate change is to blame for floods. Kashim Shettima, Nigeria’s Vice President, said that the floods in Maiduguri was caused by climate change making things more dangerous in Africa.

Shettima went to the state on Tuesday to do an on-the-spot review.

He said the flood was worse than the government thought it would be, calling it the “worst flood in Maiduguri in over 30 years.”

“This disaster is a sobering reminder of how dangerous climate change is becoming, not just around the world but especially in places like ours.”

Nigeria’s susceptibility to flood disasters has been shown many times, most recently during the devastating rains of 2012, 2018, and 2022, Shettima said.

Some videos online show the vice president wading through floodwaters. He promised that the federal government would continue to work hard to solve environmental problems.

He said that Tinubu’s government has made a detailed plan to deal with these problems head-on.

It is said that people who live near the Sanda Kyarimi Zoo in Maiduguri are confused because the water has forced some animals from the zoo, including crocodiles, snakes, and less dangerous ones.

Governor Zulum said that victims would get food and other basic needs. He also said that the government would set up a health group to look into possible disease outbreaks and stop the spread.
