Today, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State joined the governors of Ondo, Adamawa, and Kwara on a visit to Borno State to extend this support to Governor Babgana Zulum and the citizens of the state in light of the tragic flooding which struck Maiduguri. “Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected by the disaster.” He said.
The extent of the flooding is reported to be magnanimous and truly devastating. He added that as a nation, it is important that we come together to provide relief, assist in rescue operations, and ensure that those affected receive the necessary aid.
Governor took to his twitter handle around 5pm to show his solidarity and extend a supporting hand to the affected people saying, “We stand in solidarity with the people of Maiduguri and commend the ongoing rescue efforts.”
Sanyo-Olu also commended the community’s resilience saying it is truly inspiring, and “Lagos remains dedicated to offering our support in every possible way.”
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in response to this, and other cases of flooding has approved the allocation of N108 billion to support states in addressing natural disasters, with each state receiving N3 billion to aid their efforts.
