NELFUND is a Nigerian Education Loan Fund Programme.It was introduced by the President His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and enacted into law in June 12, 2023 through the Students Loan (Access to Higher Education) Act 2023. The loan scheme was established to ensure no Nigerian child is denied access to further education by providing succour to students in the payment of school fees.
Currently the management of Nigerian Education loan fund under the leadership of Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr has mentioned the payment of #20, 000 as monthly stipends for the month of July to students of higher institutions in Nigeria.
About 20,371 students from the schools Below have been paid their monthly stipends. These chools include;
- Bayero University, Kano
- Federal University, Dutsin- Ma
- University of Illorin
- University of Benin
- University of Ibadan
- University of Maiduguri
The commitment to facilitate payment processes for students of over 55 tertiary institutions is in progress as all eligible students will receive their stipends soon.
As an initiative of Mr. President to support Nigerians by ensuring financial stability, and supporting students through out their academic pursuit, NELFUND remains committed to support the educational needs if students.
Hence, Mr President has committed 50 billion naira recoverd from proceeds of crime into NELFUND.
NELFUND promises to work assiduously to fulfill its promised made to Nigerians. It also appreciates thr commitment and patience exhibited by the students as well.
