Lagos, southwest govts must compensate Igbos if they evict us – Biafra separatist leader

Akpan David, Calabar

“The government of the South West will have to settle Igbos before their eviction, or else they wait and see their anger.

The separatist leader, who reportedly operates with his militant group on the Bakassi Peninsula axis, warned that his loyalists would act within the Gulf of Guinea if IgboMustGo campaigners were allowed to carry out their threats.

Igbos will stop using Lagos ports once Calabar port is fully operational – Biafra separatist leader

The founder and leader of the Biafra Nations League, BnL, Princewill Chimezie Richards, has mentioned that businessmen from South South and southeast regions of Nigeria will stop using the Lagos ports for their goods.

He said they will then fully utilise the nearby Calabar port once it is fully operational soon.

He warned Lagos and other southwestern authorities to stop threatening to evict them from their lands, adding that they have invested even more than they themselves have.

Speaking in Ogoja, northern Cross River State, Richards demanded that Lagos State and other southwest governments pay Igbos reparations if they succeed in evicting them.

Campaigns tagged ‘IgboMustGo have been launched in Lagos State and the South West States.’

This has particularly infuriated the affected Igbos.

Richard maintained that if the threats to evict Igbos from Lagos persist, authorities should expect real war.

“Igbos would gladly leave Lagos for a seaport closer to Igboland. We are just waiting for full operation of the Calabar seaport.

“Igbos are still building mansions in Lagos because their goods arrive there.”

Commenting on the nationwide hunger protest, he lauded the people of the South East and part of the South South for not taking part in the protest.

According to him, the demands of the protest organisers did not accommodate the interests of the region.

The protest organizers didn’t include the South East and South South regions in their plans. So we couldn’t have participated in such a protest.”

According to him, the northern Muslims have hijacked the protest to promote their agenda of installing another president from the north.

He emphasized that the protest in the north, where Russian flags are flying, is about more than just hunger.

Soldiers and police arrested Richard twice, in 2016 and 2018, on suspicion that militant groups in that region were loyal to him.
