KADUNA STATE SECURITY COUNCIL REMOVES CURFEW

During the 10 day  protest, the Kaduna State government imposed a curfew in the city of Kaduna and its environs to curtail the heightened pressure in the city and to manage properties to avoid further damage and looting.

Subsequently, the 24 hour curfew was relaxed as it took effect from 6pm to 8am . However , after  an extensive review of the security situation in Kaduna and its and environs, the Kaduna State Security Council under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani has removed the 6pm to 8am curfew completely.

This is effective from Tuesday, the 13th of August,2024. Hence, law abiding citizens are free to move  and engage in their legitimate activities.

Furthermore, the Kaduna State Security council achieved this feat in a meeting precided by Governor Sani. They unanimously agreed after a meeting held on the 12th of August to lift the curfew with an assurance of their commitment to the safety of the citizens in Kaduna State.

Also, the security council of the state advised that, gatherings or processions must be verified with the relevant agencies to avoid any break down of law and order and for the overall security of the general public. The security council said that, they will always always be on the look out for threats to public peace, and will prosecute such persons posing such threats.

Governor Sani commended the leadership of the security agencies,  religious and traditional rulers and all critical stake holders for the roles they played in curtailing the unfortunate event which followed the protest in Kaduna and Zaria.

The governor assured the critical stakeholders of his inclusive and participatory stance and that he would continue to engage them towards ensuring the peace,unity and development of Kaduna State.
