Due to the negative impacts of protest in some states including kaduna, the Kaduna State government imposed a 24 hour curfew on Monday, the 4th of August,2024.
The protest was no longer peaceful as hoodlums who joined the protests catered away with generating sets, roofing sheets, office chairs, security doors, and other items in the community belonging to both private and government parasatals. The curfew was aimed at restoring calmness and orderliness in the state as children were also seen protesting in the streets.
However, the Kaduna State Security Council and the leadership of Governor Uba Sani, have decided to relax the curfew from Thursday the 8th of August, 2024 following a thorough review of security situations in Kaduna and the environs of Zaria.
Citizens are allowed to move freely and carry out their daily activities from 8am to 6pm daily. But, the security forces will continue to vigorously enforce the curfew from 6pm to 8am, and will be decisive in confronting actions which may lead to a breakdown of law and order during periods of movement as well as restriction.
The Kaduna State Security Council under the leadership of Samuel Aruwan confirms its commitment to the peace and security of the state, and has pledged to take all steps deemed necessary for the preservation of the state.
This was contained in a statement written by Samuel Aruwan, the Overseeing Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State.
