Cross River Governor Bassey Otu says his administration has secured funding for an innovative railway project linking the northern and southern parts of the state.
Gov. Bassey Otu said this at the meeting of the State Executive Council on Friday in Calabar.
He said that the railway line would connect the Ogoja, Obudu, and Bakwarra local government areas in the northern district to the Bakassi Local Government Area in the southern part of the state.
He said that the project would make it much easier to move farm goods, which were in plenty all over the state.
“This railway line will not only make it easier for people to get around the state, but it will also make it easier for our agricultural products to get to markets, which will boost trade and economic growth.”
Our administration is dedicated to transforming the state’s educational infrastructure, in addition to the railway project.
We will overhaul at least 1,000 schools across Cross River, with a particular emphasis on improving primary and secondary education.
My hope is for a thorough overhaul of our schools, encompassing everything from building and renovating classrooms to providing furniture.
“It will ultimately enhance the quality of education and improve outcomes for our students,” stated the governor.
Otu also recognised the increasing support and cooperation from residents and businesses towards governance, highlighting a notable rise in tax revenue.
