Earlier slated for today ( Monday), a meeting between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been postponed.
As stated on Monday by Channels Television, ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke acknowledged that the previously scheduled Friday meeting between the Minister of Education will not be happening.
The meeting is now set for Wednesday, August 28, even though no explanation was given for the delay.
Remember last Tuesday, ASUU sent a strike notice to the federal government after Monday, August 19, National Executive Committee conference at the University of Ibadan.
Among the problems the union has been advocating for are public university emergency revitalisation funds; payment of exceptional earned academic allowances; release of withheld salary, promotion arrears, and third-party deductions from members.
Among the other problems are stopping of unlawful recruitments; proliferation of public universities/abuse of laws, rules, and policies; and removal of institutions from the Treasury Single Account.
