Following months of the Napoli striker linked with the Premier League, Chelsea has finally made an official offer for Victor Osimhen.
Although official talks with Napoli are set to begin on Wednesday, Transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio says the Blues have formally offered to the agency Roberto Calenda.
Osimhen has already informed Napoli he wants to leave; it is yet to be seen whether all sides can reach an accord before the August 31 transfer date.
Lukaku, a Chelsea exile, is about to settle into the former Serie A champion completely. The Belgian striker visited Naples for his physical on Wednesday before finishing contract paperwork.
Calenda stated on social media that Al-Ahli, a Saudi Pro League team, had also made a large offer to Osimhen; his client does not now desire to leave Europe at this stage of his career.
Chelsea is keen to acquire a gifted striker before the season closes; should they fail to locate Osimhen, they also have Brentford’s Ivan Toney on hand.
Having joined Napoli from Lille in 2020, the Nigerian international has been a consistent highlight for Napoli scoring 76 goals in 133 matches over the past three seasons. He came seventh on the Ballon d’Or list after recently awarded African Footballer of the Year.
Despite offers from Saudi Arabian clubs including a supposedly €70m offer from Al-Ahli, the 25-year-old maintains dedicated to completing his career in Europe. Running until June 2026, his current Napoli contract contains a €130 million release clause.
Chelsea is challenging Paris Saint-Germain for Osimhen’s signature. The French champions had already reached a minimum agreement with the striker earlier this summer.
Osimhen keeps his training apart from the Napoli team while the transfer saga unfolds.
