The University of Calabar, Calabar Nigeria has suspended one Livinson Arikpo a student of the department of fisheries and aquaculture from academic activity for acting against the university matriculation oat.
According to the suspension letter address to the affected student and signed by the university registrar, Mr Gabriel Egba, Livinson Arikpo has acted in a manner capable of in sighting war in the university community.
The student in some point asked the SUG president as he should be settled as a stake holder which he allegedly locked the SUG president out of his official residence in the hostel. On the 2nd July 2024, Livinson Arikpo was alleged to have taken advantage of the epileptic power supply on campus to incite violence, protest and lock out peace loving student and staff of the institusion.
The said student was said to have turn down plea by all stake holder of the university community and the dean of student to give peace a chance and open the gate,rather he forcefully turnoff the generating plant that powers the pumping machine used to supply water to the student hostel with the motive of citing the student against the University Administration.
The letter reads in part “such uncivilized and lawless conduct are unbecoming of a student who is supposeding trained in character and learning. Your actions, as you know contravene the provisions of the student’s handbook and your matriculation oath.
” You are hereby suspended from all academic activities of the university while the matter is referred to the student disciplinary committee for further investigation. Your suspension takes immediate effect the vice chancellor directed you stay away from the university premises unless by invitation by the disciplinary committee.
To this end, the dean of Agriculture, the HOD Fisheries and aquaculture, the Ag Chief Security officer should ensure compliance.
