TRAVEL TO THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATE MADE POSSIBLE FOR NIGERIANS

The United Arab Emirate, a country in the West of Asia and has Dubai as its center for massive international trade, placed a ban on Nigeria and nineteen other  African countries in 2022.

The ban was based on certain factors including allegations of improper conduct and attempts to manipulate visa rules.  The problem got to its peak when the Nigerian government reduced  the flight tickets for the Emirates from 21 times per week to once.  Hence the UAE decided to accommodate Air peace, Nigeria’s airliner to travel once   instead of thrice   per week.

Following the ban in October, 2022 by the UAE, President Bola Tinubu, in a bid to reconcile differences, started having meetings with the authorities including the president of the UAE- President Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.  The discussions yielded as Nigerian passport holders can travel  to the UAE from July 15, 2024.

The minister for information expressed, “I can tell you that the agreement has been reached and effective from today. Nigerian passport holders intending to travel to the UAE are able to do so”. He also said, the decision to lift up the ban was as a result of  the “mutually beneficial negotiations between the government of Nigeria and the united Emirates. However, travelers will be required to submit certain documents like the document   verification number (DVN),   a document that proves their identity and travel history, a non-refundable fee of six hundred and eighty eight thousand naira for obtaining a UAE visa amongst other documents and necessities. He referred to the “updated controls and conditions” that prospective Nigerian visitors to the UAE must adhere to.

President Bola Tinubu, in a bid to reconcile differences started having meetings with the authorities including the president of the UAE- President Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.  The discussions yielded as the mutual agreement for the resumption of travel to the UAE for Nigerian passport holders has taken effect from July 15, 2024 according to the minister for information.
