A recent tweet by Making of Champions on social media platform X announced that Tobi Amusan has been chosen as Nigeria’s representative for the opening ceremony of the #Paris2024 #Olympics. This is a significant achievement for Amusan, as she is the first athlete from Athletics in 20 years to receive this honour since Mary Onyali at the Athens 2004 Games.
Amusan, renowned for her exceptional performances in the 100m hurdles, has been chosen to lead the Nigerian contingent during the parade of nations at the opening ceremony.
This acknowledgement serves as a testament to her remarkable accomplishments and her esteemed position as one of Nigeria’s most notable athletes on the international platform.
Alongside Amusan’s appointment, the Nigerian Olympic Committee has made another crucial selection for the country’s Olympic team.
According to the post, it was also announced by the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC) that Anuoluwapo Opeyori, a Badminton player, has been appointed as the General Team captain for Nigeria in Paris.
