The Federal Government commits to complete the Lagos-Calabar route on time.

Rainfall will not slow down the speed of work, according to the Federal Government of Nigeria, which has given the Nigerian people the assurance that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Project will be finished on time.

An interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) was conducted on Tuesday in Lagos, and Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, who is the Federal Controller of Works for the state of Lagos, provided the assurance.

The Federal Ministry of Works is determined to ensuring that the project is delivered on time, as stated by Kesha, despite the fact that excessive rain can naturally hold down the progress of work.

“We have measures in place to manage water levels and ensure that work continues to progress in spite of the challenges posed by the weather and other environmental factors.”

It was also mentioned by the controller of works that the contractors have been given the directive to work hard in order to guarantee that the project would meet its deadline for design and completion respectively.

The project, in her opinion, is of utmost importance to the federal government because it is considered to be one of the hallmark projects of the administration of President Bola Tinubu. This is owing to the fact that it offers considerable advantages to the location.

According to the National News Agency (NAN), Chief Dave Umahi, the Minister of Works, estimated that the construction of the 700-kilometer Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway would take eight years to finish and would cost N4 billion per kilometre.

Lekki Phase 1 would be the initial phase of the highway project, which would be built in stages, with the first segment beginning from Ahmadu Bello Way on Victoria Island.

It has been reported by the government that Hitech Construction Company has successfully finished the first phase, which spans around 1.5 kilometres in length.

It is anticipated that the project will take place from Victoria Island in Lagos to Calabar, the capital of Cross River, and will traverse the states of Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa-Ibom. The project’s purpose is to enhance connectivity between countries and to promote trade links.

Oniru Beach, Landmark Beach, and the Good Beach/Sol Beach cover around 2.5 km as part of the Lagos component of the project, which is designed to traverse via these beaches.
