Paris 2024: C’River govt assures 5th time Olympian, Offiong Edem, of supports

Cross River State government has assured Offiong Edem wjo has again qualified for the Olympics Games holding this year in Paris, capital of France, of the State’s maximum supports.

The state deputy governor, Dr Peter Odey gave the assurance when he received the reigning European Female Table Tennis Champion in his office in Calabar, saying she bvb has done the state very proud.

Odey also assured her of the government’s continued support for her Foundation’s activities.

Offiong is today staging the 4th edition of mini-table tennis tournament for 70 kids from South South and South East regions of Nigeria holding at at the Canaan Club Table Tennis Hall, UJ Esuene Stadium Calabar. The event meant for 9 to 17 years old children will climax on Saturday 6th July 2024 with mouthwatering prizes.

Odey hailed Offiong’s heroic and legendary achievements in table tennis, and contributions to sports development in the state and Nigeria as a whole.

During the visit, Edem, a five-time Olympian and six-time African Table Tennis Champion, formally invited the deputy governor to the mini tournament.
