In just one year, C’River has earned 90 laurels in sports activities, according to sports commissioner Atsu

The Commissioner for Sports in Cross River State, Mrs. Agnes Atsu, has disclosed that since the advent of Governor Bassey Otu’s administration, the state has won at least 90 different prizes in international sporting activities.

In an interview, Atsu said such feats had not been experienced in many years, adding that the story of sports development is changing.

“There was a time when we didn’t have any athletes in Cross Rivers State, but now we have over 90 laurels.”

“We have recorded nine gold medals, 32 silver medals, and 62 bronze medals at various sporting activities nationwide and beyond.

“As we speak, many of the contingents who have qualified for the Olympics are from Cross River.”

She hinted that they will explore unconventional avenues for investors and partnerships to elevate their sporting facilities.

She added that they really want to attract international and national hosting rights to major sporting events, stressing, “We will stop at nothing to see these happen.”

She said, “We are taking Cross River to her rightful position as far as sport is concerned. We want to host the world and showcase our outstanding talents.”
