Akinremi, also known as Jagaban, is said to have taken his last breath on Wednesday, according to several reports. At the time that this report was submitted, however, the cause of death was still uncertain, and the details that were available were somewhat limited.
Akinremi served as the representative for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency in Oyo State till the time of his passing.
He was a renowned and ranking member of the 10th Assembly, Rep. Akinremi, who served as Chairman of the House Committee on Science Research Institutions, according to a statement released by the Spokesperson of the House, Hon. Akin Rotimi. Rep. Akinremi holds the position of Chairman of the committee.
After suffering from a brief illness, he passed away today morning, which was Wednesday, July 10, 2024. It was the year 1951.
The statement goes as follows: “The Oyo legislator was a dedicated public servant known for his unwavering commitment to the development of his constituency and the country as a whole until the time of his passing.” The affectionate moniker of “Jagaban” was bestowed upon him as a result of his deep grasp of the requirements and goals of his people, as well as his love for serving others.
Throughout the entirety of his term in office, he was a stalwart supporter of policies and programmes that aimed to advance social welfare, economic progress, and scientific research. He demonstrated his commitment and effort by actively participating in committee activities and making comments to legislative debates. His efforts were a testament to his dedication.
Akinremi was a politician who was both a grassroots politician and a shrewd statesman. He was able to attract a favourable impact to the people of his constituency by leveraging his goodwill and network of ties. It was through his deliberate efforts to reach out to everyone of his coworkers and send them messages of goodwill on special occasions that he was able to cultivate friendships, which in turn helped to promote camaraderie and togetherness within the House.
Rep. Akinremi was a ranking member who possessed a strong institutional memory. He also served as a mentor to a large number of first-time members of parliament, providing them with guidance and expertise that he had earned from his long experience in legislative affairs.
After learning of the tragedy, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Honourable Abbas Tajudeen, extended his deepest condolences. “Rep. Akinremi Olaide Adewale was a shining example of selflessness and commitment to duty. It is impossible to overstate the significance of his contributions to our legislative activity, particularly in the field of science and research. For the House of Representatives, his constituents, and the entire country, his demise is a tragic loss. The leadership, insight, and one-of-a-kind passion that Steve brought to his job will be greatly missed by all of us.
The whole House of Representatives expresses its deepest sympathies to the Akinremi family, the Ibadan North Federal Constituency, the Government and People of Oyo State, and the entire APC family. The House of Representatives is in mourning over this enormous loss. It is beyond a doubt that the legacy of Representative Akinremi will continue to motivate those individuals who had the honour of working with him and gaining from his leadership.
